A Naming Ceremony

A Naming Ceremony is a touching, individual way of welcoming the arrival of your baby, child or new step-children into your family and circle of friends, and offers a special celebration to publicly pledge your love and support to them.

You may be married, in a partnership, or a single parent wishing to welcome your child in your life. You are not only introducing them by name, you are also marking your commitment to their care and welfare and to them as significant people in your lives.

You choose the words which you, as a parent, wish to express your hopes and promises to your child. You may include a hymn and prayers if you wish.

Grandparents, godparents and supporting adults can be included in the ceremony, making their own personal promises to the support in the upbringing of your child. Being asked to participate in these ceremonies is an honour, and a commitment.

A typical ceremony would include:

  • Welcome to the child.
  • Announcing the name of the child and its significance.
  • Your hopes for your child’s future.
  • Promises of commitment to the child by parents, grandparents, godparents and supporting adults.
  • Option of providing gifts for the child to mark the significance of the occasion.
  • Issuing of Naming Certificate and Promises Booklet signed by parents, grandparents, godparents and supporting adults.

All beautifully scripted to include poems and music of your choice.

A Naming Ceremony would usually be 20 – 30 minutes long, but will be tailored to your requirements. Naming Ceremonies can take place in any location that is special to you, such as your own home or garden, an hotel, or other local venue. They may be conducted on any day of the week, at a time to suit you.
